August: Farm to table for back to school lunches paired with Food Fight, by Linda B. Davis’ debut children’s novel (9-12 yrs).

What will be learned:
- Cooking with seasonal fruits and vegetables.
- Basic kitchen safety and skills when using a knife and the oven.
- How to connect to your reading through food.
Let’s celebrate those summer flavors as we get ready to go back to school. Together we will make a healthy snack and lunch that everyone can enjoy. We will talk about the book Food Fight and foods you might enjoy that the main character, Ben Snyder, does not like. We will come up with ideas of what foods you could make for him that he might enjoy. This will be a challenge, since he is a known “picky eater.” You can have a friend join you as long as an adult is supervising. Whether you choose to cook along or just hang out and watch, Emely will answer your questions in real time.
